On Feb 20, 2009, Phase 2 of the Blocker Family YMCA in Norfolk was officially dedicated.  Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim participated.  This phase includes the new Child-Watch area funded by the Miller Oil Foundation, as well as a new Lobby, Chapel, Youth & Teen Wing, Cafe and Cardio Center.  The Dedication Program is posted on this page. 

YMCA and Child Programs

The new “Child-Watch” Center at the Blocker Family YMCA in Norfolk opened on September 11, 2008.

Many children are already using all of the new and wonderful assets in the Child-Watch area, which is near the entrance.   This provides a safe, supervised and stimulating area for children.   This renovation was made possible in part with a gift from the Miller Oil Foundation.   Stop by and talk with the YMCA staff associates to learn more. 

Several exciting and colorful facility improvements have been made at the YMCA.  Donations from Frank Blocker, The Virginian-Pilot and the Miller Oil Foundation contributed to this.  This is part of the overall YMCA plan for $4.5 million renovations at this site and upgrades at Camp Red Feather.
